“Surely, It Can’t Be Me?”
“When we doubt ourselves and can’t see anything good about ourselves, rest assured, God sees us as his own, precious in his sight and to be used for his glory.” –Evangelist Jennifer Workman
Scriptural Reference: Judges 6:11-16
Gideon like many of us, doubted himself and what he could contribute to life and that of others but irrespective of Gideon’s outlook on himself, God saw something special in him that he couldn’t see in himself. And, that is why God spoke to him and told him after Israel’s disobedience and suffering, he would empower him to be victorious over the Midianites “in the strength of one man” (v.16). But his initial response wasn’t “okay Lord,” but like many of us he questioned his capability, “Me Lord?" Who I am, look at the family I come from, my history?” Doesn’t that sound like many of us? Excuses, excuses! But despite Gideon’s cowardly disposition, self-doubt and excuses, God used him and he will use you as well, if you are a willing vessel and is obedient to him!
So today, stop doubting yourself! It doesn’t matter about your background, it doesn’t matter what your last name is or where you come from, God sees you and all you have to do is say in faithfulness to God, “I surrender all.”
Thoughtful Contemplation:
“God sees something greater in you that you don’t see in yourself.” –Jennifer Workman
Tell me what do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror? Write down several positive affirmations about yourself and speak these affirmations over your life daily, “for so a man thinks in his heart so is he (Proverbs 23:7, NKJV).”
