WLA Living Word Christian Church (WLALWCC) believes that the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-21) is the priority responsibility for the church today. We believe that God will provide the resources necessary to fulfill His commandment. We as believers need to have a willingness of heart to go and do. Many people think that in order to obey the Great Commission, they must pack up everything they own and travel to some distant, foreign land. Although there is a need for people to go to foreign countries, it is also as close as your backyard, neighborhood, school or workplace. Another myth is that you have to meet certain criteria in order to do this type of work. That is simply not true! The word of God never gave us a checklist of things we must attain before spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Young, old, fat, thin, educated scholars, high school graduates, housewives and even our young people; all play a major role in the Great Commission. God uses all who are willing to obey him to reach people who have need of His salvation. The most effective way to impact a community with the Word of God is to train the Pastors who live in those communities. Please pray for us to continue to seek God’s will in our mission work and for His divine protection.
My name is Edward Ildefonso Jr. and I am the founding pastor of West Los Angeles Living Word Christian Church. As a congregation, we have been together now for the 35 years of my pastorate. I was born and raised in New York City and came to Christ as a married adult with children. I never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my religious experience.
After coming to Christ in His gracious call of salvation my life was radically changed. Within 3 months of my salvation experience I began to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and preach in the streets of Los Angeles. Within two years I was traveling to other countries preaching and teaching. The Great Commission has been the driving force behind all that we do in and through the life of the Church. As of today, we have been able through the grace of God to plant and establish 714 churches representing 54 languages around the world. There is not anything else that I would rather do but to serve the Lord in His church. There is nothing more important than to see a person come to Christ to be saved and forgiven and transformed for the glory of God.
